My poor puppies. I don't know if I should have saved them from doom at the dumpster when they just die anyway. Puppy #2, named Spike, disappeared Wednesday am, just when I had someone coming over to give her a new home. She had done the same thing that Puppy #4 did. She quit eating, then drinking, and I think she crawled away somewhere to die. She wouldn't have left the area of the house otherwise. She didn't leave the porch without her brothers and sister and she was the first one to come running when I whistled. I was heartbroken. The woman came over anyway and she ended up taking home Baby Girl, Puppy #5. She's had the most energy since I got them and she was the runt of the litter. She was also my favorite and the one I was most attached to. The lady was very nice and fell in love with her as soon as she saw her. She took her to the vet and the vet said she was just fine, just needed shots. Lots of energy and ate just fine. She's a little cuddle bug too, so I'm sure she'll be just fine. My heart was broke though. But I was happy to have found her a good home. That was Wednesday, so we were down to 2.
The last several days, the Monster Male, puppy #1 hasn't eaten or drank anything. He started acting like he was ill yesterday. Not moving much and just laid in my arms like he was already dead. I didn't know what to do about it and I had no car to take him to the vet. I thought he would die today sometime.
The boys made it onto the porch this morning to wait for their buses before I had a chance to go out there and check on the puppies. Puppy #1 had died during the night. My boys are not happy children. Tyler insisted that he froze to death and I needed to microwave him to make him warm and then breathe on him like God breathed on Adam to make him alive again. It seems like my happy little boy is so sad all the time now. First his nana and now his puppy.
So now, we are down to one. Puppy #3, while still nameless, is a happy puppy. He still has all the coloring of Puppy #4 just a bit lighter. He eats okay, not as much as I thought he would, but he does eat. He loves his puppy treats and he'll drink all day if you let him. He loves to play "chase" whenever we are outside. He wants you to chase him, then he wants to turn around and chase you. He's teething at the moment, so a lot of our sticks are getting chewed up. One shoe, but it was an old shoe, so not a big deal.
I'm hoping that we can take this one to the vet at some point and make sure that he'll be okay. Randy wants to keep him, but I don't. We will be moving and I don't see the reason in keeping him for a few months and then trying to find him a home when we move. That just seems cruel.
Just thought I'd give you a puppy update.....
