At about 6 when I was in the process of making dinner, the kids were hollering that there was a fire across the street. I looked out my kitchen window, didn't see anything, and just kept cooking. I smelled something odd when I had the kids sit down to dinner. I went out my front porch and as far as I could see across the street was nothing but FIRE!! Not glowing shadow stuff of a fire far off...actual flamage. I called the fire dept. They said that 2 towns worth of departments were already there and that they were calling 2 more. I asked if I should evacuate. She asked where I lived. I told her and she told me to pack a bag and be ready if they came.
So I had just hauled out the suitcase and had dumped Mason's clothes he can't fit into yet all over my bed when the kids started screaming there was someone at the door. It was a fireman which really got Rueben going. HE LOVES FIREMEN!!! They told us we had to go. I was trying to pack and Rueben was unpacking as fast as I was packing. Rueben was excited and scared at the same time. I was a bit more matter of fact about it, but I was scared too. I sat the kids down and even though the phone was ringing off the hook and there were things that needed to be done right away we prayed. Within literally just a few minutes, it started raining and the wind changed directions. The fire was out within 15 minutes after that and the fire dept came by and told us there was no danger it was just embers now and it was 100% contained.
HOW COOL IS GOD??!!!???
